I NEED a new camera!

The camera that took all the pictures in this blog finally gave up. It just gave up, after a long life taking some really good pictures. However, it doesn't have features that I'd like if I was to buy a new one. I need better macro capability and a real need to do quality photos with available light. Anyone out there who can give me an idea of the camera I should have? I'd appreciate your input.

Driving me crazy, it is, to have hooks made and ready for sale but no way to take pictures!

Please give me your suggestions. You can leave a comment below or email me at

ps.. the camera that did so well for so long is a LUMIX by Panaxonic. And of course, money is an object.

I recommend a Canon Powershot or any Canon Camera. I just love them! I do digital scrapbooking when I have time and the Canon with it's macro and other features was a real boon!

While you wait for a new camera, if you have a web cam, you can take pictures with it.
I have a Kodak Easy Share http://tinyurl.com/6k32pwc. I am sure I don't know nearly what all it does. I just point and shoot, but it does video too. It is 10.1 mega pixels and 12X optical zoom. My daughter wants a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 8x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD. She says it has good reviews and is supposed to be one of the best of its type. The only problem I've had with mine is it doesn't show some shades of purple correctly. Also, we had to get the Kodak batteries. The other brand ones we had would get stuck.

Take a look at here:

I know there are great Lumix middle-of-road cameras, the type of camera that stands between the common camera and a DSLR. I'm not updated into the last models, but when I was into photographing not so long ago I read good things about Lumix cameras, in fact I almost got one, but ended with a Nikon D40X. Do you want something you can change lenses or something fixed? There are many questions to ask yourself... anyway, take a look at that website, it is a great resource. ;-)

To Sandie: that isn't a problem of *that* camera, purple is the most difficult color to capture right in any camera... I think only the top of the notch cameras can capture it right.

Shendel, that is good to know. Now I won't yell at my camera as much. ;-)

Sibilum! What a fantastic link!! The ability to actually see the samples photographed by the different cameras is really revealing! Thank you VERY much!

Vaughnde and Sandie.. Thank YOU very much too for taking the time and your suggestions. Other than my cell phone, I have NO other ability to take pictures. But I'm looking at all the cameras and hopefully will make a decision soon.
