I'm BACK! Had a great time up on the Ranch, even if the refrigerator did die on us. Everything is greening up with all the rain we've been getting so it's beautiful up there. I didn't get any pictures because it was mostly raining but we still had a great time. Got to the cemetaries, left flowers, brought back happy/sad memories. Good time.

And now more good times, we have an auction to start! Notice I added a hook at the top? This one is from a board that I had my son Lance buy for me at an exotic hardwood place in Portland Oregon. If I can spell it right, it's a figured Granidilla from Mexico or South America. I bought the board because the company said this wood has a high level of "Chatoyance". And what's Chatoyance? Picture a highly polished Cat's Eye gemstone. You get the impression of seeing deep into the stone and the reflected highlights seem to move as you turn the stone in the light. This wood is like that. Trouble is, this kind of wood is very hard to photograph to show its amazing beauty. This outstandingly beautiful figured wood is very hard and is often used for musical instruments. I made it into a #7 crochet hook (4.5mm) that will sing through your yarn. Oh and it's 7 1/2 inches (19cm) of long slender Chatoyance, with a oh so comfy thumbrest.

Ok on to the hooks I put up last week for window shopping...

The hook on the left isn't for bids. I'll be giving it away in a new crochet promotion I've been thinking about. Details will be in a separate blog entry... SOON.

The Dark Hook is an incredible beauty in a long slender BEAUTIFULLY figured Zapote (a very VERY beautiful and very hard hardwood). It's an H (5mm) and is a full 8 inches (20.36cm)of dark swirling beauty and a comfy thumb rest.

The ? (I don't know what kind of wood it is but it's hard yet lightweight and very fugured too). This one is even longer, for you long hook fans. Its 8 1/4 inches (21cm) long, lean and a G (4mm) also with a nice thumbrest.

The Big hook at the far rightis a Pacific Yew N, not a Boye N but a Bates N (10mm). Yew is a very nice wood for large hooks because it's strong yet light weight. It's just shy of 8 inches long (20cm)and has a large ergonomic resting surface for that hard working thumb.

There we have it! Since there's been time to oogle most of the hooks already, lets end this auction early ... lets say this Thursday night at 10pm Pacific Time.

To new bidders: I try to post bids as they come in. I'll not be here ALL the time... so if your bid doesn't show up right away, not to worry. Your bid will be posted as soon as I'm able to get to them. Identical bids are entered by first bid posted, so if your bid is the same as another, I'll go by which ever one mailed. Also please increase bids by $5 minimum. email bids, if you like, to me at
