I THINK YOU'LL LIKE THESE HOOKS!
THANKS FOR BIDDING!!
Alert! I lied!! The dark hook I referred to as "blackwood" below isn't. Its really "King Wood". John and Woodcraft (a very smart guy) pointed me to my error. So if you were bidding or considering bidding on a blackwood hook.. please accept my apologies and i'll retract your bid if you wish. Otherwise, please note my bald face lie, consider the source, and leave your bids as they stand. Sorry for the mistake and thanks John for pointing it out.
Here at last are two of the hooks (more coming later) made from exotic hardwoods that I acquired at my very favorite store "Woodcraft". Woodcraft is a franchise dealing with all kinds of woodworking tools and woods. I worked at our Spokane store for a year and had a blast doing it. GREAT folks own the place (Nick and Rosemary) and very knowledgeable folks work there too. I highly recommend it if you're in the area, or if not, your local Woodcraft should be on your visit list.
I'd still be there but for the crick project and this hook making thing.
Anyways I dropped by the store a week or so ago and they had these drop dead gorgeous blanks of wood (King Wood, and Tulip Wood) that were just begging to be made into Jimbo Hooks. How could I argue? So here they are, two of the purtiest hooks I've ever made. Note that these beautiful woods are NOT stained. This is the natural color of the wood. Both woods are very hard so the hooks should last (barring gnawing dogs and other natural disasters) for generations.
The top hook is Tulip Wood and it's very ladylike with pinkish grain that is VERY distinctive and absolutely beautiful. Sizewise, its a J (Bates scale) and measures a little over 7 inches long. You see a thumb rest carved into the handle.
The bottom hook is King Wood. Shavings from this extremely hard wood (akin to ebony) have a lilac color. Interesting eh? But the color actually is as you see it with starkly contrasting grain. It too has a carved thumb rest. Its an I sizewise and is also a smidge over 7 inches long.
Ok so let the bidding begin! You can place your bids simply by emailing me at
I'll try to post bids as they come in. Watch your bids. You can raise your bid at any time up till the end of the auction (5$ minimum increments for these if you don't mind)
