JIMBOS OLD FRONT PORCH:

This is a picture of my sis Sandy and me on the front porch of our house up at the Ranch. The cabin fell or was demolished after we moved, but i can still show you the place where it stood, about a hundred yards from our new cabin. Most events of consequence up on the crick were centered around that porch. Lots of great times were had there; time spent just sitting and taking in the scenery, or the countless sing alongs when the porch and steps were filled with relatives and friends, singing all the favorites, like Cross-eyed-Sue ("oh I got a gal named Cross-eyed-Sue, eyes are red and her lips are blue; dimpled hair and curly cheeks; her false teeth rattle and her glass eye squeeks"), and Old Shep, Tie a Knot in the Devil's Tail, Cigareets and Whiskey (and wild wild wimmen), Wabash Cannonball, Big Rock Candy Mountain.. and lots of other classics. And now so many years and lives later, on a quiet evening if you listen over the rustle of the crick in the distance, you might just hear echos of those tunes whispering through the tamaracks.... or is that just me humming?

I think we need more front porches in this world....

I'm off to work on mine... be back Tuesday.
Have a great Memorial Week-end

I just bought a house - the requirement was that it had a front porch, and yep... it sure does and I can't wait to sit and watch the world go by.

I love your ole front porch Jim! The new one is most likely a fantastic version of it, most appropriate.

A good weekend to you and your bride.

Hi,
I was wondering if you remember the rest of the song for 'Crossed eye Sue'? My Pop used to sing it to me, but I can't remember the rest. I actually thought he's made the whole thing up :)
