WORLD'S SMALLEST JIMBO CROCHET HOOK UP FOR BIDS

AUCTION IS OVER...

BARBARA IS THE HIGEST BIDDER!
More hooks are left for sale two posts below.  And more to come!
Thanks!!!

YOU are the first to see and have a chance to bid on the smallest size hook I've ever made.  This is a Tiger Wood hook made in a size D (3.25mm).  Had to use a magnifying glass to see the hook head as it was being carved.  I crocheted with it and it works just fine.  Wouldn't recommend this hook to crocheters who are prone to breaking hooks because their tension is so high, but I believe for "normal" tension this amazing hook will work just fine.  The hook is not small in any aspect but the size.  It's 7 inches long and has a form fitting thumb rest as you can see in the top photo.

Now what I'm going to do, since I have so much time involved in making this hook (I couldn't expect to set a price based on my time... nobody could afford it)..... so I'll do an old fashioned auction.

We'll allow a bit of time for the Holiday and close bidding at 10pm Tuesday night (June 7) Pacific time, due to the upcoming Holiday.

A little twist here, for the benefit of my followers.  The bidding will start at $35.  If the bids do not go above $35 I will do a drawing and give the hook away to one of my followers.

To new bidders: I try to post bids as they come in. I'll not be here ALL the time... so if your bid doesn't show up right away, not to worry. Your bid will be posted as soon as I'm able to get to them. Identical bids are entered by first bid posted, so if your bid is the same as another, I'll go by which ever one mailed. Also please increase bids by $5 minimum. email bids, if you like, to me at

jimbocrochetwhittler@yahoo.com

Here we go!

Bids:
Barbara goes $35
Just back from the Crick and find Carol here with her bid of $40
Barbara comes back with $50

Noste Giveaway and HOOKS FOR SALE!

AND WE HAVE A WINNER!!!  OMLAIR FROM AUSTRALIA GETS THE NOSTE
I'm BACK, and let the contest begin! This is the experimental Nostepenne that I made for winding small center pull balls of yarn  The shaft rotates, but you might want it not to, simply by binding the space between the handle and shaft with a bit of yarn.  The handle is made of Apricot wood and the shaft is maple.  Now the good part.  YOU can win this Noste simply by posting a remark here or by emailing me at  jimbocrochetwhittler@yahoo.com

I'll make this contest a quick one.... Karol and I are going out of town soon, so lets run the contest till 10pm Pacific Time on Tuesday May 17.  Good luck!!
Oh and if you are on my "follower" list and mention that fact, you get TWO entries!  Otherwise, one entry per person, please.

Big hooks for sale!  The Huge Egg Hook is an S and is made of Yew wood.  Beautiful wood and a VERY useful hook that should be a joy to hold.  Price:  $30 (SOLD)
The other is an M (9mm on my Bates "knit check" gauge)  Its made of good ole Black Walnut and is 8 inches long.  Price:  $30.

Exotic Tiger Wood hooks for sale...
I wasn't sure what kind of wood this was till I looked it up.  I just knew that it was very hard and very pretty.  Why didn't I know?  It was a gift to me in my "goody bag" that I received at the Crochet Cama retreat last year.  Beautiful wood, wouldn't you say?
Left to right:
Tiger 1 is a G (4mm).  It's 7 1/2 inches long.  Price: $35 (SOLD)
Tiger 2 is an H (5mm )  It's 7 3/4 inches long.  Price: $35 (SOLD)

Tiger 3 is an I (5.5mm on the ole Bates gauge)  It's 7 1/2 inches long.  Price: $35 (SOLD)

Tiger 4 is another H (5mm Bateswise) and is 7 3/4 inches long.  Price:  $35
All of these hooks have comfy thumb rests.

An ultra beautiful Cocobolo G is up for sale.  This is one of the prettiest pieces of Cocobolo that I've come across.  There's no thumb rest at this time, but I'll carve one at the request of the buyer.  Amazingly beautirul hook.  It's 7 1/2 inches long.  Price: $45 (SOLD)

This amazing Marblewood hook is incredible.  Part looks a bit like bamboo, and the darker part is like, well, dark bamboo.  The grain looks like it might be rough but I guarantee its REALLY smooth.  Size is an I (5 1/2mm) and it's 7 3/4 inches long.  Price: $$40

And last but far from least is this set of  Boye steel interchangeable hooks.  I made a "Fumed Maple handle for this set and inset the otherwise plain aluminium handle.  It comes with a very comfortable thumb rest and is ultra light weight, not to mention the pretty dark wood.  You get 14 hooks in one with this set from size 1 - 14 in Boye steel hooks for your thread hooking comfort.  Price: $65

You can buy any one or more of these hooks by emailing me your intentions at jimbocrochetwhittler@yahoo.com .  First offer gets the hook(s).

Thanks for your patience!  I hope to get more hooks going soon.  If you don't see something you like, I can do special orders.

Have a great weekend!

RAOK (Random acts of Kindness) Week, May 2-8 Proclamed.... lets make it INTERNATIONAL!!!

Tony Antonucci, I'm very proud to say, is a friend of mine. I met Tony while we were involved in a local High School fund raising project for our students in Ferris High School here in Spokane. Tony has energy to burn and it's always directed at helping someone. If there were nominations for Santa Claus, Tony would be my choice.
I just today learned that Tony has been lobbying for a nationally declared Random Act of Kindness week (May 2 - 8). Here's a link to the story in our local newspaper, the Spokesman Review.....

http://m.spokesman.com/stories/2011/may/04/shawn-vestal-small-kind-acts-bring-about-greatness/

After reading the article, I thought why not support Tony and see if RAOK week might be taken to an INTERNATIONAL level. Why not? So... if you're reading this and you have a blog or are a member of a group or are on facebook or have any other access to spread the word, Please help support Tony in his efforts to establish May 2 - 8 as not just National, but International Random Act of Kindness Week.
And what do we do during the week? We simply perform random acts of kindness for others, no matter how small. What a concept!! This world could certainly use more kindness. I'm proud to support Tony, and hope you're inspired to participate as well!
