A thread hook set!!

The above is in response to a challenge to produce a Jimbo hook handle for an interchangeable hook set. After noodling on the problem for some time, I ordered a Boye brand interchangeable head crochet set (with steel hooks, sized from #1 - #14). Yup that's 14 steel hooks and a single handle. I modified the handle as you can see, by adapting it to the Jimbo hook style with a longer handle body and larger grip surface than you'd find in the original set. Kind of a costly thing to do, but the result is effectively 14 different hooks, since all the hook heads are interchangeable in the one handle.

What do you think?? Is this something I should be making for sale? I'd have to charge $65.

Thanks for dropping by!
Jimbo

Love it! I started as a jewelry crocheter, but I can never find a hook with a large enough handle. So I've pretty much had to give it up because of my bad hands. You may once again be the answer by my prayers. ;-)

I don't crochet with thread much, Jimbo - but I'd have to say that a price tag of $65.00 for 14 hooks is a bargain! Just my nickel's worth...

I think it's an awesome idea! I don't crochet with thread much at all though. In fact I think it's been years! I do think it's a great idea though.

I don't crochet with thread much, mainly because I can't handle those tiny hooks. I do have a couple of custom made hooks with thick handles to work with the smaller hooks but the pattern always calls for the hook I don't have of course. I think it would be great to have a full set with a good thick handle. I've lately seen bunches of doily patterns that tempt. Might make a nice Christmas gift.

I'd pay it...I'd have to save up for it,but Boye hooks are my preferred hooks, and I'd love to use them with a wooden handle like that. Fabulous!

Oh yeah - definitely!

I would makes these as a custom order tho.

Make a page on your blog all about it. I would put the link to that page right between your gorgeous pic of the crick and the About Me section so that the link for the page would be easy to find.

I don't think there's anything you can't do when you take the time to 'noodle' heehee.

Love ya, Jimbo!
