Ok it's later now and I have a few minutes. Had the wrestling match yesterday, then my oldest son Clint (named for my Dad, not the ex president) was a rider in a donkey basketball game for a Rotary fund raiser. Fun! Then we had our friend Sharon over to meet Biff. More fun, but no blogging.. so with out further ah doo...

Here is a group ore really interesting and nice hooks. Lets start from the top.

Hook #1 I haven't made and Egg Hook for some time now but they're soooo comfortable for underhand grippers that I really should make lots more. The bulb fits in the palm of the hand, so the grip is pretty much by the ball of the thumb and the pinky, leaving the rest of the fingers to manipulate yarn is a very easy relaxed manner. This hook is a K (6.5mm), is made of Hard Maple and is 5 inches long (12.7cm). The largest diameter of bulb or egg shape is 1 1/4 inches or 3.2cm. A VERY comfortable hook for folk who are underhand (like you hold your toothbrush) grippers.

Hook #2 Another Zircote beauty! Kind of like a pinto pony in color with outrageous dark grain swirling around the lighter blond, this hook has turned LOTS of heads. Zircote is a very hard South American hardwood that makes very fine hooks that easily permit smaller hook sizes. This beauty is a G (4mm) and is a long lean one..almost 8 inches (20.3cm) long. A slightly smaller but definite thumb rest makes for a pretty decent hook for our overhanders out there, while still being comfortable for underhanders. A hook that will have your attention whether you're crocheting or just admiring the wood grain scenery!

Hook #3 Like baseball?? Know what kind of wood that baseball bats (NO, NOT Aluminum... I'm talking REAL baseball bats here). Who answered Hickory? Nope, and not oak either. Its Ash, good ole Amurican Ash! Not sure why I haven't tried ash hooks before now, but this one is the very first Jimbo hook done in Ash. Ash, if it's used for baseball bats, has to be a tough wood, and it makes nice strong hooks too. The color in the picture isn't quite right, for this hook. The hook isn't near as white as the photo shows, its a much richer tan and blond color that I just couldn't seem to squeeze out of my photo edit thingie. Anyways, this long shapely beauty is way out there at 8 1/2 inches (21.6cm), and is an I (5.5mm).

Hook #4 is another lean one, this time of smoked maple. Love to work with this wood because it smells so good... like a bbq. Have to say, though that the finish on the hook obliterates the nice smell. Sad, but then if it was there, you'd just start crocheting and get hungry. They also call this "fumed" maple. Pretty stuff and a nice warm brown color. This one is a size 7 (4.5mm), a kind of rare size that you don't see much in the yarn shops. And its a longish 7.75 inches (19-7cm) long with a well defined thumb rest.

Hook #5 is a White Oak hook that you need to look at up close by clicking on the image above. The shadows in the photo kind of distort the hook shape a little. But what you have here is a shorter hook that's REALLY lightweight and a thumbrest to die for. If you have smallish hands, and an underhand grip style, this hook might just fit you like a very comfortable glove. It's a 6.5mm K for Komfort (korny, eh?) and its just 6 3/4 inches (17.1cm) long.

And that brings us to hook #6. Now is really where the photo editor let me down., but PLEASE trust me, that the color is no where as orange as the photo would let you believe. Its a VERY rich deep red color, one of the prettiest woods I've worked with. A truly truly beautiful wood that doesn't need any gee gaws or fancy turning to show it's beauty, and no stain or dye could ever come close to matching the natural color here. And it's another Z wood. This time it's Zapote, another South American drop dead beautiful hardwood. Very nice to work with too. This is one that I just like to hold and admire the rich colors. It's a J (6mm) and is near 8 inches (20.3cm) long.

So there you have it! Interested?? Lets see. We'll put these beauties on the auction block for a few days, and close the bidding Saturday morning March 27th at 10am Pacific.

To new bidders: I try to post bids as they come in. I'll not be here ALL the time... so if your bid doesn't show up right away, not to worry. Yay! I won!!

I paid via paypal on the left but... do I owe you any shipping costs? I can make a separate payment for those. This is my first win-- I am very excited!

Hmm, had a little problem leaving my comment above, so my name (donna) oddly links to a "Profile Not Available" page. I think this comment should work properly! :-)

I forgot about the early ending for this auction! I had my eye on hook #2 - and last night thought, "Oh, I better see what the bid is at before the auction ends" - too late!

Congratulations to all the winners - and to Jimbo with the new advertising policy on Corchetville! Looks like it was a success!
