Hi Jimbo - nice to meet you. Saw you on Ravelry's post. I have a question for you on patents since my hubby the craftsman made something for me that just isn't part of the crochet world yet for graphing (I designed it, he made it) - and he and I thought that it would be a good thing to patent and he could make them as long as he is well (he has cancer). But how to patent? Seems like a long shot - but heck, who knows! Everyone starts somewhere!

The thing about blue sky ideas is that, sometimes that might be possible. The Jimbomatic might actually be possible. A couple of motion sensors in the hook to detect vertical and horizontal motion, with a USB and/or serial port to the computer. The software would have to "learn" how a person crochets. Maybe something along the lines of crochet single crochet for 3 minutes during a "learn" phase in the software.
Then it could write the pattern, but alas, it can't unravel it too.

Hi Jim, Just safely returned from Paradise Fiber -WOW! Now I need your Jimbomatic hook to make fabulous creations. Saw a scarf in a museum this summer and took a photo. So you think I can download the photo onto the Jumbomatic software and hook?
