a knotty little hook

Just had to post a shot of this hook. It just simply amazed me that the wood under the bark could be so beautiful! The hook is made from a thorn bush/tree that grows next to the apple tree where alot of my hooks originate. As a curiosity, i clipped a chunk of a thorny branch, let it dry, and this is the result. The twists, spalting and knots make for a surface that's just really pretty to look at... and the shape fits the hand well.
This hook is spoken for, but there's more of this wood if you've an interest. Contact me by email at

to order.

Another gorgeous looking hook, Jimbo. Your hooks are the ones I reach for every time I start a new project.

Ah thank you guys! I just had to share that beautiful grain. And there it was hidden for all this time under that ordinary old bark. Its such a nice surprize finding the hooks hiding in all those little sticks.

Very pretty! Do you have a bigger chunk for one of my handles?? :)

I'll take a look, Sharon. Sure would be a purty one. I think i'll collect a few more chunks of that when i go back up to the ranch. Just have to be careful for the thorns (about an inch long and very sharp).

Hi Mare... i responded, but ain't sure where. Getting late and this cold is making my head a couple sizes larger.
You'd love this hook, but it's not a pencil grip hook. The one in C'ville is, but its spoken for. Check back or email me with a particular order and i'll see if i can find another one hiding under the bark and screaming "Make me for Mare!!"
and i emailed you about the buttons. Lemme know if you dind't get it, ok?

Fabulous! I don't even crochet and I'm entranced. It's obvious that I just appreciate craftsmanship.
