AND WE HAVE A NEW AUCTION... HOOKS ARE UP FOR BIDS, SEE DETAILS BELOW
Auction time!

Lets get right to it, eh?  Starting from the left, the Egg hook we'll call hook #1 and work our way across to the Noste on the far right.

So... Hook #1 is an eggolicious N+  (10.25mm) that is made of a wood I can't tell you much about because I forgot it's name.  Looks a bit like Mahogany but much denser and harder.  Overall length is 5 1/2 inches.  Egg hooks are the rage for folks who have a bit of arthritis or other grip problems because the egg part is very easy to hold in the palm.

Hook #2 I know about.  It's made of smoked maple.  Very pretty and VERY chatoyant.  Looks like you can see into the grain oh about a 1/16th inch, and every which way you turn it, different grain patterns emerge.  Beautiful.  Size?  It's big (14mm)  and just shy of 8 inches long.

Hook #3 is made from Red Heart.  A bit different chunk of Red Heart than I'm used to, but pretty.  Seems to be a bit more dense than the Red Hearts I've worked with so it might have been taken from a slower growth tree.  Very pretty and again with a very evident bit of chatoyance.  It's a K (6.5mm) and is 7 5/8 inches long.

Hook #4 is a Cocobolo beauty.  This is about as exotic as you get, wood wise.  You just don't find much prettier grain that is useful as hook wood.  AND Cocobolo will vary in color.  The piece you see is THE most beautiful, in my humble opinion.  You can clearly see the wildly distinctive grain colors on this side of the hook.  The other side won't disappoint either.  Size?  It's an L (8mm) and is 7 3/4 inches long.

Hook #5 is for you die hard Boye fans who might also like to own a Jimbo hook.  This one is made of the same Cocobolo as Hook #4, only with an anodized aluminum Boye hook inserted.  The hook is an F (3.75mm) and is 7 inches long.  Are you thinking, "Jimbo you copped out and went the easy way by inserting a metal hook in a wood handle".  Aw contrair!  It's every bit as time consuming to make an insert hook as it is to make wood hooks.  Why'd I do it?  Well because its VERY difficult to make a wood hook with a true Boye head.  So there.

Hook #6 is even bigger.  Made of Pacific Yew, this hook is a knockout color and grain contrast wise.  Yew, as you may know is useful for many things.  It has medicinal properties (Yew bark contains "taxol", a cancer fighting drug).  It has also been used historically for making archery bows because of it's resilience.  But you and I know it's also really wonderful for big hooks because it's strong yet light.  This one sizes up at 16.4mm (in the Q range) and is remarkably light weight for it's length (8 3/4 inches)

Hook #7 isn't a hook.  It's a Nostepenne.  You know about Nostepenne's (we shorten the name to "Noste")?  A noste is a hand tool used for winding yarn.  A really cool tool, and fun to use.  This one is made of Ash and has a winding surface that is 5 inches long and tapers from a diameter of 17mm to 12.25mm at the small end.  The handle is 3 1/2 inches long, bringing the overall length to 8 1/2 inches if my math is correct.  Handy little tools, Nostes.  And when you aren't using them for yarn winding, they make handy hair rollers.  heh  just kidding.

Ok there we have it.  Lets get to the bidding info.  You can place your bids by emailing me at
jimbocrochetwhittler@yahoo.com .  I'll post bids here as they come in.  If you are outbid, and want to bid again, please increase the bid by a minimum of $5.  I'm not at the computer round the clock so your bid might not be posted right away, but not to worry.  I'll post them as soon as I can.  Tying bids will be resolved in favor of the earliest received email.
Oh and lets let this auction run till 10pm Pacific on give this auction  Sunday, April 6th.

And thanks for your patience.  I know I've slowed down a bit with the auctions.  My heart's in the right place, but my hands are moving a bit slower these days.
