Tis the Season, and late as I am (please forgive me) we're doing a contest to give away the Crimmis Hook you see at the top of this picture. The rest of the hooks below we'll auction off in the usual way.BIDDERS PLEASE CHECK BELOW AND SEE IF YOU WERE HIGH BIDDER. HIGH BIDDERS PLEASE CONSIDER USING PAYPAL BY CLICKING ON THE LITTLE BOX IN THE LEFT MARGIN OF THIS BLOG PAGE MARKED "MAKE A DONATION" ... OR IF YOU'D LIKE TO PAY OTHERWISE PLEASE EMAIL ME AND WE'LL MAKE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS.
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED AND BID! AND A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!
JIMBO
First the contest.. you can enter either by commenting here or by emailing me at
jimbocrochetwhittler@yahoo.com (same email address for bidding on hooks)
This year's Crimmis hook is made from figured maple and sports a very real red Christmas tree light bulb at it's foot end. The bulb of course doesn't light (no room for an extension cord).... but it can be removed for crocheting comfort.
We'll run the contest until Dec. 18 and hope to get the hook to the deserving winner in time for a little Christmas crocheting! Enter simply by commenting or emailing me a little note. I'll select the winner at random at 10pm Pacific Time on the 18th. Please only enter once.
And for the auction! Lets look at the hooks starting from the left.
Hook #1 is, I think, made from Bloodwood, a beautiful two tone hardwood that makes wonderful crochet hooks. This one is an I (5.5mm) and is 6 5/8 inches long.
Hook #2 is Rosewood! It's an H (5mm) and is 7 1/4 inches long. Rosewood!
Hook #3 a mystery wood, but very pretty and very hard. Might be another form of Rosewood but that's a lame guess. It's another I (5.5mm) and is 7 inches long.
Hook #4 is my fave.... maybe because it's made from wood that was "bear" harvested from the old apple tree up on the ranch. It's an amazingly figured hook with beautifully contrasting grain color. Unique for it's origin and color. It's an L (8mm) and is 7 3/4 inches long.
If I can muster the time to make more hooks, I'll add them to this post by edit. Can't promise much because the weather's so cold (was an even zero up at the ranch yesterday), and I've been caregiving for the past few months while Karol recovers from two hip operations.
So lets run the auction until
Thanks folks, and Merry Christmas!!
Bids:
Hook #1
Yvonne bids $30
Hook #2
Debbie goes $25
Amy G bumps it up to $35
Wendy says $40
Hook #3
Doug bids $30
Patricia elevates it to $35
Doug's back with $40
Hook #4
Paula is first with $25
Arabelle bids $35
Debbie takes it to $40
Doug jumps in with $45
And a Bonus! Free pattern
See the white garland in the picture? Karol made that with a Jimbo H hook. Here's the pattern. Warning, this pattern is easier than it looks.
Yarn: finally a good use for FUN FUR, your choice of color, one skein per garland
Hook: Jimbo, H - P, your choice... preferably the Jimbo Crimmis hook won in the contest above.
Pattern: Chain till the end of the skein then tie off.
cool eh?
Debbie says Merry Christmas and is entered!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful hooks! I love how you make them by recycling the wood on your property. Do you only auction off the hooks? Or is just select ones you auction off and have a store to sell the others? Unfortunately I can't afford to participate in the auctions at this time. But one day I do hope to be able too because they certainly look like beautiful hooks to work with. Merry Christmas!!
