Deadman Crick in the cold and snow. Ah but it's snug and warm in the cabin. Wouldn't trade it for a hot summer day.

We're headed for the cabin today to watch the grandbabies sled off the REAL Jimbo's front porch; and see the new year come in under a blanket of stars you just can't see in the city. I sincerely wish you could all be there.

The 2010 Crimmis Hook ("Crimmis" coming from my son Lance when he was about 3, called Christmas, "Crimmis" and it stuck).
The hook? Well what wood would a Crimmis hook be made of? Holly of course! This is the first hook I've made from Holly. Its an AMAZINGLY smooth and WHITE wood. And it makes for really nice hooks. This one is an I (5.5mm) and has it's own light... a REAL Christmas Tree light! The light can be easily removed if it gets in the way of your crocheting.

Haven't had many hooks up for sale lately, huh? WAY to many other things going on; some good some not so good. Anyways, I'm hoping to fix that soon, so if you have a Jimbo hook in mind as a Christmas gift, watch this spot. Some will be coming.

At long last, after a "blue" period in which I totally lost my Jimbo Mojo, thanks to everyone's encouragement; I bring you a few nifty numbers for sale.

Lets start with the threadie set at the top of the picture. This is an adaptation of the BOYE Interchangeable Head thread hook set in which one handle can be used with any one of 14 different size hooks. The hook sizes go from 1 - 14, and the handle is a beauty, made from Black Locust. This wood was given to me by the nice guys at the Wooden Boat Center on Camano Island during the Crochet Liberation Front Retreat in October. It doesn't show up really well in the picture, but trust me, its BEAUTIFUL wood and totally unique. I didn't carve a thumb rest in the handle in case it's not wanted by the buyer, BUT I'll carve one for you should you wish at no extra charge.

Now lets go left to right. The Crimmis hook has been so popular, and since I have more of the Holly wood (hmmm.. Hollywood?? heh). Ok not to get distracted... I thought there might be some who would like to buy one or two of these nifty Crimmis hooks. They are intended for One-Off crochet work. Freeform if you will, because they're not specifically sized to "normal" hook sizes. The larger hook of the two is smack between an M and an N (8.5mm) if you want to have an idea of size.. and it's 8 1/4 inches long without the bulb (which is easily removable for crocheting if you so choose). The bulb, bytheway is real but doesn't light up.

Next is another Crimmis hook, same Holly wood (no puns this time) and it's a much smaller size. It's a Bates size 7 (4.5mm). It's 7 1/2 inches long and the bulb is removable.

Now comes a bit more "normal" hook. Actually I should be slapped for calling this hook "normal". Its a serious beauty, ultra light and beyond imagination smooth. Made of German Plum, this size K (6.5mm) is such a pleasure to hold, you'll need to allow a little extra fondle time while you crochet. It's 7 1/4 inches of German Plum goodness. This one includes a thumb rest.

Next is a hook made from Gen-U-wine Deadman Crick maple. It was made from a smallish branch and you can see the heart wood show as a little dot at the hook head tip, but not to worry.... it's not soft. Pretty flecks of interesting grain and a bit of bark left on the heel to retain a bit of this hook's origin. It's a J (6mm) and is 7 inches long with a generous thumb rest.

And we move on to a MAJOR beauty.... another Bois de Rose hook. This wood is said to be THE most beautiful wood in the world and I ain't arguing. It's just amazing to look at, and to touch. The color and grain.. well you just have to hold it and look to gain a full appreciation of this amazing wood. This hook is made without a thumb rest, but as always, if the buyer prefers, I'll carve one. Its a G (4mm) and is 7 1/8 inches long.

Ever hear of a "knooking" hook? Well here's one for you. It's a Bamboo H (5mm) that has a hole in the heel end for a cord, to be used in "knooking". If you've not tried knooking, I'm told it's a hoot and the results are very similar to knitting.
The hook can also, of course, be used for conventional crocheting, and is 8 3/8 inches long.
I'd rather not sell this hook by itself, since I'm only asking $5 and my shipping cost almost negates the price, so the first customer who'd like this added to their order will get it. Just let me know and add $5 to your purchase price.SOLD


Next and on the far right (not politically, mind you) is about the cutest little rustic hook around. This little hook is a real beauty, made from the venerable old Apple Tree that started all this (my very first hooks were made from this same old Apple tree up on the Crick). And there's lots Old Apple Tree character left to remind you of where this hook came from. Inspiring. The little branch that could, became a hook. A rare natural beauty and a rare size (for a Jimbo hook), it's an F (3.75mm). There's a thumb rest, and a length (6 1/4 inches) that fits nicely in my hand.
